Pantoprazole Injection is a proton pump inhibitor which is prescribed for treatment of short term erosive esophagitis and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Administered via intravenous route, it is known to work by inhibiting final step of gastric acid production. Active chemical used in its formulation has molecular formula C16H15F2N3O4S and molar mass of 383.371 g/mol. Upon administration, Pantoprazole Injection gets metabolized in liver by enzyme CYP2C19 which is followed by sulfation. It has elimination half life of around 1 to 2 hours with bioavailability of 77%. This injection irreversibly inhibits H+/K+ ATPase pump and suppress acid production.
